about

"Wet From The Press" + "Feeder, Doctor, Talker" is the fifth installment from Robert Walter's 'Better Feathers' digital 45 series.

Wet From The Press takes its name from an old time saying for brand new. It’s sort of my tribute to the Auteur 70s Soul recordings by Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone and Shuggie Otis. There’s a Rhythm Ace (early predecessor of the Roland TR808 drum machine) part and Mini Moog bass-line. One time 20th Congress drummer Jake Najor rounds it out with his steady tasteful drumming.

Feeder, Doctor, Talker is influenced by dark and cinematic library music from the 60s and 70s. During that period there were many private labels making interesting instrumental music for use in TV, Film and Radio productions. I like to collect those records for inspiration outside of my usual jazz and funk stuff. The Greyboy Allstars bassist Chris Stillwell joins Jake Najor in the rhythm section.
